dear KC, how is QingYun? hope he is fine?
dear PoonSheng,
thanks for your thoughtful feedback, i really
appreciate it. i am sorie u find them generally
unsatisfactory but i have given my best.
few changes have been made:
poster 1. the background wordings are lighter in
colour& the messages are darker
poster 2. english title "from inner peace to world
peace" has been enlarged slightly, and chinese title
"cong" has been shifted to the right
if u are proposing a more drastic change e.g. remove
the background chinese wordings/ world peace symbol/
background scenery, im afraid my aesthetic opinion
cannot agree with that.
otherwise, as this is an urgent matter, we will need
someone kindly volunteer to take over. (my clinic
hours are 8 to 5pm everyday, really sorie cuz 1 poster
takes me at least 12 hours to design)
regarding intro to both speakers, can we keep it as
they are? descriptions are simply convenient means to
invite more ppl to attend the talks, provided they are
not over-exaggerated.
Mr Tsai has indeed given over hundreds of inspiring
talks in various regions of China, Taiwan& SEA, and
was highly regarded by the Chinese community. Reasons
we might not heard of him here: he is
young,chinese-speaking, not a monk& his focus of talk
more towards traditional Chinese values (buddhism+
confucianism) rather than pure buddhism.
Master Chin Kung is also indeed one of the most
brilliant Mahayana teachers we have at this time, n by
being frank with this point i meant not to boast but
to make sure ppl grab this opportunity.
ppl, let me know what u guys think! then we can sort
this out & send the posters out asap!

Hello All,
First I presumed these posters would be printed in
colour, bigger than A3 size landscape, or else, it
would be definitely impossible to see from far (the
opposite of the road) and to catch 3 second glimpse of
attention in Chinatown or in anywhere in london
colleges.
Second: I dont find any focus of attention in both
posters.. too many images and quotes at one time. It
doesnt create an impact to the attention and the
purpose of it. Not to say to catch 2 seconds glimpse
of an attention.
Third: Too many pictures at one go and I dont find the
point and the purpose of it.
The 12 Oct poster: I think it would be better to have
a brighter background and have the shadowy chinese
character removed as it is very confusing in the
eyes. Moreover, you have already repeat the stanza. It
would be good to have the fonts thicker.
Mr.Tsai? I have not heard of him at all despite I'm
from Malaysia,a South-East Asian country . Perhaps we
could just mention which university he worked for.
Senior Lecturer of Confucian Studies (etc..) in
University of etc...
The 13th Oct poster: Too much things on the poster. I
would suggest to remove the lanscape scenery as it is
very soaring in the eyes instead of giving a calming
effect. I'm puzzling on the picture of a globe with
the peace sign. It doesnt signify anything. First rule
of poster making ---> The writing or the fonts should
be readable. I couldnt even read the first stanza
"from inner peace to world peace" and the first
chinese character" cong" at my 1st glimpse...
I would not use the pretext: "one of the greatest
Mahayana Buddhist teacher". It sounds pretty boastful
and lacking a sense of humility. I would suggest to
use the pretext: " A prolific Buddhist Master in
Mahayana Buddhism." It echoed his authority and
academic achievement in the knowledge of Mahayana
Buddhism.
I personally think that the poster which was created
previously was the best. It already point out the
purpose once I saw the poster at a first glimpse.
These are just my personal comments on the poster. As
I am enthusiatic as you are, you may find my comments
abit straightforward. no harsh feelings.
Cheers with metta,
Sheng XXX

Dear Jun,
The 12 Oct poster looks good and the background and
colour really suit the theme.
The 13 Oct poster is very good. There are a couple of
typos in the text that I can spot:
1. Chinese title: å¾èªæ§å¹³åå°ä¸çåå¹³
notå¾èªæ§åå¹³å°ä¸çåå¹³.
2. Some letters are missing in the introduction to Ven
Master Chin Kung: It should read:
Adjunct Professor of the University of Queensland &
Griffith University (Australia)
One of the greatest Mahayana Buddhist teachers
advocating multicultural harmony & interfaith
communication.
The use:
1) They should go out and replace the ones we put in
Chinatown and around (do we have the resources to do
this?)
2) They should be inserted into our website, although
I am beginning to run out of working hours to write
the Chinese/English text to go with the change on the
website. Any one to give it a go and work with
Vincent?
3) We need to send out another round of emails to
remind friends, members etc of the two events in two
separate emails. These posters can be inserted into
the emails.
4) Any other suggestion?
Dear Jun,
Alastair asked if a separate poster can be created for
the visit to SOAS to go around the university? I am
not sure if you have time to do it so I did not ask
you then. If you are happy to take the role on please
email him and copy me to say that you are on the job!
Many thanks again for the great work!
Amitabha and with metta,
KC Tang

version of poster for 12th Oct
dear all,
thanks for the constructive comments on poster 1.the
following changes have been made:
- typo "reknown" to "well-known"
- removal of "/" sign below "venue"
- blurring of the edges of picture (i gave up, Vincent
:p)
- addition of "senior lecturer" title after "Mr Tsai
LiShu"
please now comment on poster 2 for master Chin Kung's
talk on 13th Oct.the globe symbol is apparently the
"world peace logo" :)
KC, the attached posters are both in low resolution.
who should i send the final version of high quality
poster to?

jun
